Tofu Prawn Ball ~

When I tried to make this lunch box, I have been thinking whether I can make meat ball using tofu and prawn. This is my experiment recipe, so I used very simple ingredient and do feel free to improve them. I might add 1 stalk of chilli and spring onion the next time I make them.

Why tofu to make the prawn ball? It’s because tofu makes the texture very fluffy and soft. Plus TOFU has a low calorie count and relatively large amounts of protein.

Ingredient

150g Egg Tofu (Normal Tofu is ok)

75g Prawn

1 tbsp soy sauce

1/2 tsp pepper

Plain Flour

1 egg, beaten

Panko (bread crumbs)

Direction

1. Wrap the tofu in paper towel, place on a plate and press with something heavy and leave for 30 min to help press out the water.

2. De-vein and wash the prawns.

3. Put the squeezed tofu, prawns in a bowl, and season with soy sauce and pepper and mix well. Place in the mixer and puree until smooth.

Optional ingredients to add in the mixture after you puree them:

1 chilli (Halve the chilli lengthways, remove the stalk, seeds and pith and dice finely.)

1 stalk spring onion (Chopped finely)

4. Prepare 3 bowls, one for beaten egg, one for cornstarch and the other one for bread crumbs.

5. Scoop the tofu and prawn mixture with one big tablespoon into your hand and shape into balls. Coat the ball with plain flour then egg and lastly panko. Line them on a tray and continue to do it for the rest of the balls.

6. Deep fry the balls in hot oil aorund 180C for few minutes or until it turn golden brown.

7. Serve with tomato sauce or mayonnaise as dipping which I store in the Winnie The Pooh container.
